6 Word Story: 6/30

Today is the last day of June and I realized I have SO much to do. The walk this morning was overbearingly hot and I just wanted to turn around and go back home. I have to add a couple more walks to meet the activity points and I’m hoping this evening will be cooler. I wish there was an underground tunnel that I could walk in and stay cool but not a drippy, smelly one. There are quite a few definitions given for the prompt and I’m trying to find one that examples courage. The underground railroad comes to mind but that’s a lot of history to get into 6 words.

Prompt Word: Underground

6 Word Story: 6/29

This was another difficult one as I didn’t want to go completely fictional and still wanted to post a positive 6-word story that stayed within the courage theme.

Prompt Word: Dragon Slayer

6 Word Story: 6/28

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this month’s prompts from Page Flutter. I get that they all fall under the theme of courage but it feels as if all the prompts can be used to write a fictional crime story.  I searched today’s prompt and found a lot of articles about confessing sins and Bible quotes. Here’s my attempt at today’s prompt.

Prompt Word: Public Confession

6 Word Story: 6/27

Trying to find your own way, your own path, can be harder than finding a needle in a haystack. It seems like someone somewhere has done something similar to what you are trying to achieve. Then I realized I was looking at it the prompt word all wrong. Sure, someone has had a similar situation to overcome as me (or you) but their circumstance is different from yours.

Prompt Word: Less Traveled

Boundless is another word that I had to look the definition up for and in doing so…that didn’t help me either. I understand the word but drew a blank when trying to write something. Here’s my attempt.

Prompt Word: Boundless

6 Word Story: 6/25

Yesterday I took some time and went to the local zoo. I didn’t paint, didn’t write, and didn’t listen to my writing class lecture. It was one of the most refreshing things I could’ve done. With everyone’s work schedule, son’s social life, and my personal interests it’s difficult getting everyone in one place. Even though the zoo was changing the animals out and there wasn’t much there we still had fun.

I still think yesterday’s prompt and today’s could be a part one/ part two or one in the same but I can still see how they can be used as different prompts. Overcoming a fear is one of the most exhilarating feelings a person can have. There are fears that are crippling (I have them) and may not ever conquer them. This is where people believe that they are weak but that’s not true. How a person handles the fear is still a form of conquering it.

Prompt Word: Fear Conquered

6 Word Story: 6/24

I have a lot of fears and some of those cause anxiety and panic attacks. I have learned to deal with most but some are unshakable due to a past life. However, I do try and get past them or move forward but at the very least I’ll remind myself of who I’m with or where I’m at. This prompt actually should go with tomorrows. Maybe a part 1 and part 2 prompt idea?

Prompt Word: Biggest Fear

6 Word Story: 6/23

This should have been yesterday’s prompt. A chaotic day at work then even worse when I got home. Sure frozen pizza for the family and 0pt chili for me that was the least of my worries. Right now, the utility company is in the middle of changing connections for the water. Inspectors have been in out and of the house for a month (yeah that was a horrible anxious time for me) and we got the all clear. There wouldn’t be any water contamination in the house when the crossover is complete.

Last night, I don’t know what the workers did but we were without water for a few hours (I always keep bottled water on hand) then the electric went out. I couldn’t even finish my creative writing lecture. Hence the late Fenton post and the frustration directed towards the lead person of the crew. It was unacceptable to have the crew come back on Monday to get our utilities back on. Water was back at 11pm and the electric at 2am. I just got done doing dishes and made me a decent cup of coffee.

Happy Saturday fellow bloggers!

Prompt Word(s): Over the Edge

6 Word Story: 6/22

I have never heard of this phrase…words? I looked it up and found that I don’t have a problem with owning my own faults and I think that there needs to be more of this in this day and age. Instead of everyone blaming everyone else for their mistake, own it, learn from it, and move on.

Definition of Mea Culpaa formal acknowledgment of personal fault or error

Prompt Word: Mea Culpa

6 Word Story: 6/21

When I think of pioneer my first thought is of the TV show, ‘Little House on the Prairie.’ Now that I’m older I realized that we are all pioneers in our lives. We may not discover new lands, stake land, or brave the wild tundra but we still discover newness within ourselves and what we can accomplish.

Prompt Word: Pioneer girl

6 Word Story: 6/20

Dreaming is what has gotten me through a lot and has helped me achieve more than what I was dreaming about. If it wasn’t for dreamers there would be so much not in our lives, no goals achieved, no art, no color or life.

Prompt Word: Dreamer

6 Word Story: 6/19

What an absolutely frustrating morning. Last night we had storms that came through and knocked out the electric. Woke up, the electric is back on but I don’t have time to paint. Got ready for my walk and it’s still pouring! Tell you the truth a little panic set it. I cheated and did a sneak peek on the scale before the walk that never happened and I’m down to 189lbs! So, I will have to walk tonight which means a quick dinner and a battle with the humidity. Add the BS spam comment this morning, I’m not giving up but feeling overwhelmed and out of place.  It’s going to be a late night tonight.

I looked up today’s prompt and the first few searches were about a superhero character. Then I was reminded of a character in the movie, ‘The Mists of Avalon’ (the history behind this movie is a little dark) and the scene of a ritual. By definition, it’s a female that hunts game OR a female animal that hunts prey. This was a hard one as I’m trying to bring positive words and vibes and save all the spooky stuff for October.

Prompt Word: The Huntress

6 Word Story: 6/18

I think today’s prompt should have been combined with yesterday’s. Now, the ONLY thing that I can connect this to is the court, crime, and the law. I understand where this would have to do with courage but how to turn this into something positive? Under Oath doesn’t mean something pleasant happened but the exact opposite. When seeking justice, you are often left with the law. Not my favorite prompt.

Prompt Word: Under Oath

6 Word Story: 6/17

This was another difficult prompt for me to wrap my head around. This month on Page Flutter the theme is Courage and it just doesn’t seem to fit with the prompt. I’ll try and make a connection but all I can think about is a crime mystery.

Prompt Word: On the Scene

6 Word Story: 6/16

My sliced nail bed is becoming more troublesome than I thought it could be. Typing with one hand feels foreign. I feel like a gorilla banging on the keyboard with her feet! It’s frustrating, to say the least. I have some chores and errands that need to be completed today in preparation for Father’s day tomorrow.

After everything is set up, I’m going to paint come hell or high water.

Something that I have come to learn is that there are always these invisible front lines that we have to protect or to cross to conquer something. The fact is, we have our own victories that no one else sees and sometimes we don’t acknowledge until after the fact. It could be getting out of bed and taking that shower to completing a marathon. Our front lines have their own stories and victories. Be proud.

Prompt Word: Front Line

6 Word Story: 6/14

I would have never thought a year ago I would be where I am with writing and painting. I have stumbled along the way but I have bigger ideas that I will work hard to complete. Or at least come close.

Prompt Word: The Visionary

6 Word Story: 6/13

Sometimes all you can do is be alone in a situation. And you know what? That’s ok. Sometimes it needs to happen that way so you are able to find yourself, strength, or courage.

Prompt Word: Lone Warrior

6 Word Story: 6/12

Today’s prompt is something I think that we have all feared and welcomed at least once in our life. Some are for the good, some are for the bad, but both good and bad are needed for balance.

Prompt Word: Changes

6 Word Story: 6/11

There have been countless times that I was referred to as a bitch just because I told someone the truth. I find in this day and time that’s all falling by the wayside because people can’t handle the truth (this is where we will take a moment and relive the scene from ‘A Few Good Men’). Today people are content with voicing opinions about mundane subjects rather than speaking truths and using their given rights. But this isn’t a political post and I need to get to get ready for the 8-hour hostage situation that forces me to be an adult-work.

Prompt Word: Hard Truth
